Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom -I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Just too Darn Cute!!

So Chatham is officially 6 months old- I missed blogging Sunday on the actualy Half Birthday Day- but better late than never, right?!

We don't go to the Dr. until Friday, so I'll have exact measurments then- but he is growing like a weed! And I predict 29 1/2 inches and 21 lbs.- but we shall see.

*Chatham has started doing some of the CUTEST things- like when he's jumping in his jumperoo he'll pick his legs up and cross them at his ankles while he plays with the whale toy attachment.
*He likes to scream (a good scream) and then giggle at himself for what LOUD noises he can make.
*We're not sleeping through the night so well anymore, but a late night snack never hurt anyone. So a 3:30 bottle and we're back in bed until 6ish.
*Still loving daycare and have done SO many cute arts and crafts. Apple art for Johnny Appleseed week, foot print sunshines, and much more! This week is cottonball art if I'm not mistaken.

I will have six month pictures on Friday when I post about the dr. appt.

Look what I found!!

This breaks my heart- to look at and remember when Chatham was this small and SO fragile
I wasn't going to post this picture, or the 100's of others I took during our week in the ICU! But as I came across them on my computer this morning it made me tingle with joy to see just how far our little man had come!

Chatham will be six months old on Sunday- he is eating three solid food meals a day. Can sit up on his own. Reach and hold on to whatever he wants. Is about to sprout a tooth. And just chats up a storm with anyone willing to listen.
Who knew that this little fighter would end up to be such a lover and a snuggler!!!!
Just wanted to share a little bit of our slow start with you!!!

So much going on! I could blog ALL DAY!

Well as I mentioned before, Chatham is growing like a weed! It seems every time I turn around he's doing something new.
As I said in my last blog Chatham is standing while holding on to things (if we put him there; he tries to pull up, but just can't quite get it) See...
He is sitting in the grocery buggy (yes I'm from the south- it's a buggy- NOT A CART!) We'll argue this point later!
Anyway- while sitting in the BUGGY he would just giggle and laugh as we took each turn and the "wind" hit his little legs, he would kick and squeal as people passed, and I think he even tried to wave and Patricia (a lady I work with that got to meet Chatham at the store)
That lovey buggy cover was given to me by Tefany (another lady I work with) at a shower I had. I didn't know at first just want this contraption was- but let me tell you it is AMAZING! It has little hooks on the front that you can attach toys to, so when they are thrown over board they don't hit the ground. See!
AND- it doubles as a highchair cover in restaurants- we haven't actually tried that out yet, but I'm sure we will soon. Every time we've taken him out to eat we're with my parents. (Gram has issues will putting Chatham down- ha ha)
I'm afraid that's all the pictures I had time to grab this morning as I ran out the door to day care; but in other news- I cut 3 1/2 inches off my hair yesterday- it looks great (or so I've been told) and I had someone new cut it- I was a little sceptical (I've had Mama Deb cut my hair since the beginning of time- OK for 8 years, but you get the picture) but Kristin did a GREAT job and I couldn't be happier.
Chatham has started eating yogurt in the mornings in place of the banana oatmeal and he is CRAZY about it! We'll still have banana oatmeal sometimes, but I figured my little guy needed a little variety in his life.
We believe teething has started in the Donley home- even MORE drool (I didn't think that was possible), no more sleeping through the night (he wakes up and wants to chew on his paci), loose bowels (I know I promised no more poop talk), and he chews on EVERYTHING!!! Wish us luck, and hopefully I'll have some pictures on little toofers soon!!!

I'm a big boy now!

Chatham has become a big boy over night (well maybe over the weekend)- he wore Jeans and a polo (NO onesie) for his playdate with Caden. During which time he also held on to his Crawl 'n Cruise Playzone (that I picked up for FIVE BUCKS at a local consignment sale) and stood there giggling at Caden playing for a good 3-4 minutes!!!
Last night we took one of our several ventures to Walmart and Chatham sat in the cart, little feet dangling in the breeze (ok so it was a make shift breeze as I pushed him down the aisle- come on people- stay with me!) He laughed and coo'd up and down EVERY aisle. and this morning when I dropped the balls into his crawl 'n cruise he followed the balls all the way through the twists and turns and grabbed them (putting them right in his mouth) as they came rolling out the bottom!
I can't believe what a big boy I have on my hands! He looks so small when I drop him off at school (he's one of the youngest in his class) but then when I get him home and see EVERYTHING he's learned- I am amazed at how smart, coordinated, and quick he has become in less than a month!
I have pictures of the jeans and polo, Caden and Chatham standing at the crawl 'n cruise, and Chahtam in the shopping cart- but as always they're not on the computer yet, but I will post them in the morning!

A BUG!!!

We got our true WELCOME TO DAYCARE this week as Chatham had his first "bug" he missed two days of day care and now mama and daddy are down with the sniffles...
But, my point of this post is that I know I promised pictures, and they are coming; but caring for my sick little boy was top priority and ya'll, my loyal blog readers, will just have to hold your horses!

It's been a whirlwind....

But we survived!

Chatham had his first day of day care yesterday and we did well. He loved it, got an GREAT report card (yes, they send home a report card EVERYDAY!) I managed to not go see him at lunch, so I went today and he was SO happy to see (as I was him) I fed him lunch- banana berry yogurt and half a bottle- and then he was ALMOST a sleep so I left.

He loves playing with the other kids and even has made a new girlfriend- her name is CJ. There are two other boys in the class, but once again, he is playing with primarily girls! He's such the ladies man. They do arts and crafts, and try to go outside everyday- it was a little warm yesterday but they had just come in for playing when I got there today at 11:40.

Chatham is starting to learn to wave and tries to reach for you if he wants to be picked up so his teachers and I are looking into how to teach him some sign language- I am very excited!!

I have a ton of new pictures I need to post and promise to get to them soon- but we have a BIG weekend with it being Labor day and all- so if not Friday I'll do it Monday!!!
